DESCRIPTION: Birdsongs of Equitable Togetherness, commissioned by Carol Wincenc in 2020, was written to embody a concept of co-existence I call together/not together. An ensemble playing a composition can emulate a microcosm of an experimental society, where all voices moving at their own pace and authenticity can collectively reach for an expression of multiplicity. As humans we all seek community, acceptance and individual freedom, so in the blur of our reaching, with caring awareness of others, we can lean into the uncomfortable to make a joyful noise.
