Nicole Mitchell named "Artist in Residence" for 2010 Chicago Jazz Festival
Nicole Mitchell has been given the prestigious title of "Artist in Residence" for the 2010 Chicago Jazz Festival. She will be doing four concerts:
Sept 2: Duo:flutist Nicole Mitchell and pianist Anthony Davis at Gantz Hall, Roosevelt University 5pm
Sept 3: Nicole Mitchell's Black Earth Orchestra, "The Arc of O" 7pm Millineum Park
Nicole Mitchell AWARDED "Flutist of the Year" by Jazz Journalists Association and Downbeat Magazine
On Monday June 14, Nicole Mitchell was awarded "Flutist of the Year" by the Jazz Journalists Association. This is Mitchell's 2nd time winning the award. Mitchell recently was also awarded Downbeat Magazine "Top Jazz Flutist 2010" in their Critic's Poll and simultaneously won "#1 Rising Star Flutist 2010."
